BREAKING: Two Thai Military Commanders Shot Dead by Their Own Soldiers
Bangkok, October 9, 2025÷ Mr. Pita, leader of one of Thailand’s major opposition parties, has revealed in a post that two Thai military commanders were shot and killed by their own soldiers on 7 October 2025 near the border area.
According to Mr. Pita, a group of Thai soldiers, frustrated by being stationed along the border for an extended period without being allowed to return home, lost control and opened fire on their commanders, resulting in their deaths. He added that the Thai military has attempted to conceal the incident from the public.
“This is exactly what I never wanted to see,” Mr. Pita wrote.
“I have always said that war brings no benefit. Now, because of the prolonged border conflict, a group of soldiers who could no longer bear being deployed for too long without rest or home leave ended up shooting and killing their own commanders on October 7. The military has almost completely suppressed this information.”
Family members of one of the deceased confirmed that the incident stemmed not only from anger over being denied home leave, but also from severe shortages of food and supplies at the frontline. Soldiers reportedly had only instant noodles and canned fish to eat — a stark contrast to the military and government’s claims that troops were being adequately supported.
The family’s testimony, Mr. Pita added, clearly demonstrates the harsh conditions and neglect faced by Thai soldiers deployed along the border, which ultimately drove some to the breaking point.
