Pistol Recovered After Reported School Shooting in Thailand’s Kamphaeng Phet

KAMPHAENG PHET, September 2, 2026 — A teenage student allegedly brought a 9mm pistol into a secondary school in Nakhon Chum and opened fire on Wednesday afternoon, according to unconfirmed reports circulating on local social media.

The incident was reportedly reported at around 2:00 p.m. at Wachirapragarn Wittayakom School in Kamphaeng Phet province.

According to a local Facebook page, teachers, police, rescue workers and members of the public helped restrain the individual and recovered the firearm at the scene. No injuries or deaths have been reported.

A separate social media post by an individual identifying as a rescue worker claimed that the person involved was a 15-year-old student who allegedly brought the firearm to school intending to carry out an attack.

The post further claimed that the student asked to see a teacher and fired seven to eight shots before rescue personnel persuaded him to surrender the weapon.

However, these specific details—including the student’s age, the alleged intention, the number of shots fired and the circumstances surrounding the surrender—have not been independently confirmed by police and remain based solely on social media reports.

Parents were reportedly waiting outside the school to collect their children following the incident.
