BATTAMBANG, April 2, 2026 — Hollywood actress and humanitarian Angelina Jolie visited a school in Cambodia’s Battambang province on Wednesday to assess student learning conditions and progress in dormitory facilities, officials said.

Jolie toured Samlot High School, where she met students and educators and reviewed improvements in boarding accommodations aimed at supporting access to education for children in rural areas.

The visit was warmly received by Cambodia’s Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, reflecting ongoing cooperation with international partners to strengthen the country’s education sector.

Jolie, who has maintained a long-standing relationship with Cambodia spanning more than two decades, is widely recognized for her humanitarian work in the country. She first came to Cambodia in the early 2000s during the filming of Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, and later became a special envoy for the UN refugee agency, advocating for vulnerable communities worldwide.

Her engagement in Cambodia has included support for conservation projects, rural development and education initiatives, particularly in underserved areas. She also founded the Maddox Jolie-Pitt Foundation, which has been active in environmental protection and community development in the country.

Officials said the latest visit underscores continued international interest in Cambodia’s social development, especially efforts to expand educational access and improve living conditions for students in remote regions.
