Cambodian King Calls for National Solidarity Ahead of Khmer New Year

PHNOM PENH, April 8, 2026 — Cambodia’s King Norodom Sihamoni has extended his New Year wishes to the Cambodian people, calling for strengthened national unity, harmony and continued collective efforts toward the country’s development.

In a royal message issued ahead of the upcoming Khmer New Year, the monarch conveyed his warm greetings to all citizens, both at home and abroad, while encouraging solidarity and mutual support across society.

The King emphasized the importance of unity as a foundation for maintaining peace, stability and progress, noting that cooperation among all Cambodians remains essential for advancing national development and preserving social harmony.

He also highlighted the value of compassion, mutual respect and shared responsibility, urging citizens to continue contributing positively to the nation’s growth and well-being.

The annual Sangkran (Khmer New Year), one of Cambodia’s most important cultural celebrations, is widely observed across the country with traditional ceremonies, family gatherings and community festivities.

The royal message comes as Cambodia continues to promote stability and social cohesion, with leaders frequently underscoring unity as a key pillar for sustainable development.
