Police Bust 47 Million Baht Online Gambling Ring in Bangkok Suburbs

BANGKOK, April 120, 2026 — Thai police have raided two condominium units in the Bangkok metropolitan area and arrested three suspects linked to an online gambling network handling about 47 million baht ($1.3 million) in monthly transactions, authorities said.

The operation, carried out in Nonthaburi province near the capital, targeted two websites identified as “luckygame889” and “taipei889“, which police said had a combined user base of more than 245,000 accounts.

Investigators from the Region 1 Investigation Bureau executed court-approved searches on Thursday at condominium units in the Chaeng Watthana–Pak Kret area, seizing computers, monitors, routers and mobile phones.

At the first location, officers arrested two suspects and confiscated desktop computers, four monitors and multiple phones. At a second condo unit, a third suspect was detained along with additional computers and electronic devices.

All three face charges of operating illegal online gambling services and conspiracy to commit money laundering, police said.

Authorities said “luckygame889” generated around 29 million baht a month from more than 141,000 users, while “taipei889” processed about 18 million baht monthly from over 104,000 accounts.

The case underscores the growing scale of illegal digital gambling in Thailand, where betting remains largely prohibited but online platforms continue to proliferate through offshore domains, nominee accounts and local operating cells.

Police said investigators are tracing financial flows and examining possible links to a broader criminal network, with further arrests possible.

Thailand has intensified enforcement against cybercrime, online scams and illegal gambling operations as authorities seek to curb organised networks using urban residential properties as command centres.
