PHNOM PENH, May 26, 2026 — South Korean investors are seeking new investment opportunities in Cambodia’s agricultural sector, particularly in cashew processing and agricultural exports, according to business leaders meeting Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen.

Park Joo Bong, chairman of DAEJOO KC Group and president of the Incheon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said South Korean investors were increasingly interested in Cambodia due to what he described as the country’s stability and investment potential.

Speaking during a meeting with Hun Sen in Phnom Penh on Tuesday, Park said agriculture had emerged as a key area of interest for Korean businesses, with cashew nuts drawing particular attention from investors.

Hun Sen welcomed the South Korean delegation and expressed hope that the visit would help expand investment cooperation between the two countries.

According to Cambodian officials, Park highlighted Cambodia’s safe investment climate and growing appeal among South Korean companies seeking overseas business opportunities.

Hun Sen thanked Korean investors for their interest in Cambodia’s agricultural sector and stressed that the country possesses significant agricultural raw materials that could support expanded agro-processing industries.

He noted that Cambodia particularly needs more investors capable of processing agricultural products domestically before exporting them to South Korea and international markets.

The Cambodian leader said trade and investment remain at the core of relations between Cambodia and South Korea and expressed hope that stronger business engagement would deepen bilateral economic ties.

Hun Sen also highlighted the growing strategic partnership between the two countries and said Cambodia hoped relations could eventually be elevated to a comprehensive strategic partnership as both nations approach the 30th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations.
