PHNOM PENH, June 1, 2026 — Cambodia’s Techo International Airport has been ranked among the world’s best new airport terminals, placing fifth in the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2026 ranking of the World’s Best New Airport Terminals.

The recognition is awarded to airport terminals that have opened within the previous 18 months and are evaluated based on airport services, staff performance and overall passenger experience.

According to the Skytrax assessment, Techo International Airport secured fifth place globally, joining a list of newly developed airport terminals recognized for service quality and customer satisfaction.

The top five rankings for the World’s Best New Airport Terminal 2026 were:

  1. Aso Kumamoto Airport, Japan
  2. Terminal 3, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, China
  3. Terminal 1, San Diego International Airport, United States
  4. Navi Mumbai International Airport, India
  5. Techo International Airport, Cambodia

The achievement marks an important milestone for Cambodia’s aviation sector as the country prepares to position Techo International Airport as a major regional and international aviation hub.

Construction of the airport began in 2020 on a 2,600-hectare site located approximately 19 kilometres south of Phnom Penh. The project is designed as a Category 4F airport, the highest classification for commercial airports, enabling it to accommodate some of the world’s largest aircraft, including the Airbus A380 and Boeing 747.

During its first phase of operation, the airport is expected to handle up to 13 million passengers annually, with future expansion planned to support growing air traffic demand.

The Skytrax recognition is expected to boost the airport’s international profile and support Cambodia’s efforts to strengthen tourism, trade and connectivity by enhancing its aviation infrastructure and passenger service standards.
