Cambodia, Vietnam Commit to Stronger Economic and Infrastructure Links
HANOI, June 8, 2026 — Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation across a wide range of sectors during talks in Hanoi.
The meeting took place on Monday during Hun Manet’s official visit to Vietnam and his participation in the 3rd ASEAN Future Forum (AFF), held in the Vietnamese capital on June 8-9.
During the discussions, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung praised Cambodia’s rapid development across multiple sectors and expressed confidence that the country would continue to achieve significant progress under Hun Manet’s leadership.

Hun Manet, in turn, congratulated Vietnam on its strong economic growth and expressed confidence that the country would achieve its long-term development goals for 2030 and 2045 under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Vietnamese government.
The two leaders welcomed the continued progress in Cambodia-Vietnam relations and agreed to organize major commemorative activities in 2027 to mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Both prime ministers also pledged to deepen bilateral ties and elevate cooperation to a new level based on the principles of good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and long-term stability.
The leaders reviewed cooperation in key sectors including politics, trade and investment, security and defence, education, vocational training, healthcare, tourism, culture, energy, infrastructure connectivity and people-to-people exchanges.
Hun Manet highlighted the importance of accelerating connectivity projects between the Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway and Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City-Moc Bai Expressway. He also called for stronger waterway transport links and expanded air connectivity between the two countries.
In the economic sphere, the Cambodian premier proposed streamlining procedures for direct cross-border cargo transport to reduce logistics costs and shorten delivery times.
Before concluding their meeting, the two leaders exchanged views on regional and international issues of common interest and reaffirmed their commitment to close cooperation within regional and multilateral frameworks.
