PHNOM PENH, June 22, 2026 – A Cambodian geopolitical analyst has accused Thailand of using media campaigns to distort facts surrounding the Cambodia-Thailand border dispute, saying Phnom Penh should respond through international legal, diplomatic and information channels.

Yong Pov, a Cambodian geopolitical analyst, said Thailand’s increased spending on media coverage of the border issue was not a new development but reflected an effort to shape international opinion over the dispute.

He alleged that Bangkok was attempting to disseminate misleading information to the international community to support what he described as Thailand’s illegal encroachment on Cambodian territory.

Yong Pov said Cambodia should prepare to respond on three fronts: international law, diplomacy and public information, to safeguard its position on the border issue.

His comments come as Cambodia and Thailand continue to pursue diplomatic mechanisms while remaining at odds over unresolved land and maritime boundary disputes.
