PHNOM PENH, 29 June 2026 — South Korea’s Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency has announced plans to strengthen cooperation with Cambodia by providing technical equipment and specialised training to support the country’s efforts to combat online scams and cybercrime.

The commitment was announced during the two-day International Cities Police Council (ICPC) conference held in Seoul, which brought together representatives from Cambodia, South Korea, China, the Philippines, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, the Netherlands and several international partner organisations.

The Cambodian delegation, led by the National Police, attended the conference at the invitation of Seoul Metropolitan Police Commissioner Park Jeong-bo. The meeting focused on strengthening law enforcement cooperation among member cities to address transnational crime and enhance the safety of citizens overseas.

According to the conference outcomes, Seoul will expand cooperation with the Phnom Penh Municipal Police by supplying specialised technical equipment and organising training programmes aimed at improving Cambodia’s capacity to investigate and combat technology-enabled crimes, including online scams.

Seoul authorities also pledged to continue supporting the Phnom Penh Municipal Police in other areas of public security cooperation.

The inaugural ICPC conference was hosted by Seoul, with Commissioner Park Jeong-bo proposing that Phnom Penh host the second edition of the conference in Cambodia.
