South Korean Firms Look to Cambodia for Manufacturing Expansion
PHNOM PENH, 20 July 2026 — A delegation of South Korean investors has expressed strong interest in expanding existing investments and exploring new business opportunities in Cambodia during a meeting with Prime Minister Hun Manet in Phnom Penh on Monday.
The delegation, led by South Korean Ambassador to Cambodia Kim Chang Yong and coordinated by the Korean Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (KOCHAM) and WorldBridge Group, met Hun Manet at the Peace Palace to discuss investment and economic cooperation.
During the meeting, Ambassador Kim praised the steady development of Cambodia-South Korea relations, noting that the two countries have elevated their ties to a Strategic Partnership.
The delegation expressed confidence that Cambodia would continue to achieve strong economic development under Hun Manet’s leadership.
Representatives from 15 South Korean companies participated in the visit, covering key sectors including automotive, electronics, textiles, retail and food, finance and banking, construction, entertainment and culture.
According to the delegation, the business mission aims to strengthen the Cambodia-South Korea Strategic Partnership, particularly in trade, investment and economic cooperation, while assessing Cambodia’s market potential for future expansion.
Of the 15 companies, seven are already operating in Cambodia, while six others currently investing in Vietnam are considering expanding their manufacturing operations into Cambodia.
The delegation thanked the Cambodian government for its continued support and cooperation with South Korean businesses and reaffirmed its commitment to contributing to Cambodia’s socio-economic development.
Hun Manet welcomed the delegation and commended KOCHAM and WorldBridge Group for facilitating the visit.
The prime minister noted that next year will mark the 30th anniversary of the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and South Korea, highlighting the significant progress achieved in bilateral ties over nearly three decades, particularly in economic and trade cooperation.
He said South Korean companies have played an important role in supporting Cambodia’s economic growth and welcomed their interest in expanding investment and exploring new opportunities in the Kingdom.
Hun Manet outlined a range of government measures aimed at attracting investors, including institutional reforms, simplified administrative procedures and tax incentives.
He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving transport infrastructure—including roads, waterways, airports and railways—as well as expanding energy capacity to lower production and logistics costs and enhance Cambodia’s competitiveness in regional and global markets.
The prime minister concluded by reaffirming the government’s commitment to maintaining a favourable investment climate and encouraged South Korean companies to continue working closely with relevant ministries and agencies to pursue both investment expansion and new business ventures in Cambodia.
