Australian Speaker Milton Dick Concludes Productive Visit to Cambodia

PHNOM PENH, August 31, 2026 — Australia’s Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Hon Milton Dick MP, has concluded a productive visit to Cambodia, where he attended the 2nd Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference and held meetings with senior Cambodian officials and other stakeholders.

During his visit, Dick met Samdech Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly, and Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

Discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations and expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation, as well as promoting diverse representation in Parliament, strengthening democratic institutions, education and youth engagement.

The Australian Speaker also met participants in the ASEAN Australia Centre’s Generation Next program and female election candidates, highlighting Australia’s support for emerging leaders, women’s leadership and stronger people-to-people connections across the region.

The visit comes as Australia and Cambodia prepare to mark 75 years of diplomatic relations in 2027.

According to the Australian side, the visit reaffirmed Australia’s position as an enduring, trusted and reliable partner of Cambodia and underscored the importance of continued cooperation between the two countries across parliamentary, political and people-to-people ties.
