KOH KONG, Sep. 1, 2026 — The ASEAN Observer Team in Cambodia (AOT-KH) has conducted a field visit to the Cham Yeam International Border Check Point in Koh Kong Province to observe, verify and report on the implementation of the Cambodia–Thailand ceasefire.

The visit took place at 9:35 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1, and was coordinated by the Cambodian Liaison Group (CLG). The AOT-KH mission was led by its Head of Mission from the Philippines.

The team visited the border checkpoint in Cham Yeam Village, Pak Khlang Commune, Mondol Seima District, Koh Kong Province, following the entry into force of the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand.

According to Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defence, the field observation aims to ensure compliance with the ceasefire, promote transparency, strengthen mutual trust and contribute to the rapid normalization of the situation along the border.

The Royal Government and Ministry of National Defence reaffirmed Cambodia’s firm, sincere and unwavering commitment to fully and faithfully implementing the agreements reached between Cambodia and Thailand, including the Joint Statement of the Third Special Meeting of the Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) on December 27, 2025, the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand on October 26, 2025, and other relevant agreements.

Cambodia also reaffirmed its continued support for and cooperation with the ASEAN Observer Team, stressing that the AOT plays an important role in monitoring the ceasefire, promoting transparency and building mutual trust between the two countries.

The Cambodian Ministry of National Defence said the latest field visit reflects Cambodia’s continued commitment to ceasefire implementation and a peaceful return to normalcy along the Cambodia–Thailand border.
