Angelina Jolie Pledges to Promote Cambodia Globally
SIEM REAP, April 4, 2026 — Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie has pledged to help promote Cambodia’s tourism potential to a global audience, following talks with government officials on expanding cooperation in the sector.
Tourism Minister Huot Hak met Jolie in Siem Reap on Friday to discuss joint efforts to strengthen tourism promotion, as well as the protection of Cambodia’s cultural and natural heritage.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on enhancing Cambodia’s international profile through tourism campaigns, community-based projects and support for arts, culture and social development.
Officials said cooperation could include promoting Cambodia’s destinations globally and advancing sustainable tourism initiatives, alongside efforts to preserve cultural heritage and natural resources.
Jolie has maintained close ties with Cambodia for more than two decades and has contributed to raising the country’s visibility internationally, notably through films such as First They Killed My Father and Tomb Raider.
Cambodia has been seeking to further develop its tourism sector as a key driver of economic growth, with authorities aiming to attract more international visitors while promoting sustainability and cultural preservation.
