Phnom Penh, 8 December 2025 — Samdech Techo Hun Sen, former Prime Minister and current President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has issued a strong public accusation against Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, alleging that he is willing to provoke war with Cambodia solely to secure political support and electoral advantage in Thailand.

In a forcefully worded message posted on his official Facebook page on Monday, Hun Sen stated that Anutin was prepared to sacrifice the lives of Thai soldiers and civilians to declare war on Cambodia, despite the fact that Cambodian forces have exercised restraint and have not retaliated.

Hun Sen emphasized that before assuming office as Prime Minister of Thailand, Anutin maintained friendly relations with Cambodia. However, he asserted that since taking power, the Thai leader has shifted course and openly positioned himself as an adversary of Cambodia.

The statement represents one of the strongest public criticisms to date by the Cambodian leadership amid rising tensions along the Cambodia–Thailand border.
