Anwar Ibrahim Urges Cambodia and Thailand to Cease Hostilities Effective 10:00 PM Tonight
Kuala Lumpur, 13 December 2025 — Malaysian Prime Minister H.E. Anwar Ibrahim announced on Saturday, 13 December 2025, a renewed diplomatic push urging Cambodia and Thailand to immediately halt all hostilities, with the cessation of fighting set to take effect at 10:00 p.m. tonight.
The announcement follows a series of high-level telephone consultations held by Prime Minister Anwar, including discussions with U.S. President Donald J. Trump, as well as separate calls with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, amid escalating border tensions between the two neighboring countries.
During these conversations, Prime Minister Anwar conveyed Malaysia’s deep concern over the situation and strongly urged both sides to exercise maximum restraint, immediately cease all hostile actions, and avoid any military activities that could further escalate the conflict.
He specifically called on both Cambodia and Thailand to refrain from the use of force, including artillery fire, aerial operations, and the movement or mobilization of armed forces. According to Prime Minister Anwar, these de-escalatory measures are to enter into force at 10:00 p.m. on 13 December 2025, marking a critical step toward stabilizing the situation.
Malaysia, in its capacity as a key regional partner and in support of ASEAN’s principles, reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating dialogue, reducing tensions, and promoting a peaceful resolution in accordance with international law and regional mechanisms.
