Pursat Province, 19 November 2025 — The ASEAN Observers Team (AOT), deployed to monitor the implementation of the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand, was compelled to immediately suspend its mission this morning after weapon explosions were detected originating from the Thai side of the border.

At 11:08 AM, the AOT—working in coordination with the Ministry of National Defense of Cambodia—arrived at Checkpoint CH1, located in Thmorda Commune, Veal Veng District, Pursat Province, to carry out routine inspection and verification of ceasefire compliance.

However, during the assessment, the team heard the sound of weapon detonations from the Thai side, creating a direct threat to the safety of the ASEAN observers and Cambodian coordinating personnel. In accordance with established safety protocols, the AOT was compelled to immediately suspend the verification process and withdraw from the area.

The incident raises serious concerns regarding the Thai side’s adherence to the ceasefire commitments and poses additional challenges to ongoing regional efforts aimed at safeguarding peace, stability, and confidence-building along the Cambodia–Thailand border.

Cambodia reiterates its unwavering commitment to the ceasefire agreement and to facilitating the work of ASEAN observers. At the same time, the Kingdom calls for strict compliance, responsible conduct, and unconditional cooperation from all parties to ensure the integrity and safety of international monitoring operations.
