BREAKING: Third Special Cambodia–Thailand GBC Meeting Opens Under ASEAN Observation to Secure Ceasefire
Pailin–Chanthaburi Border, 27 December 2025 — The Third Special Meeting of the Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) formally commenced at 9:30 a.m. today at the Prom–Pak Kard Permanent Border Checkpoint, linking Pailin Province of Cambodia with Chanthaburi Province of Thailand, under the observation of the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) from both countries.
The Cambodian delegation is led by H.E. General TEA Seiha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia, serving as Co-Chairman of the Cambodia–Thailand GBC. The Thai delegation is headed by H.E. General Nattaphon Narkphanit, Minister of Defence of the Kingdom of Thailand and Co-Chairman of the GBC.
According to H.E. Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia, the meeting was convened with the primary objective of achieving an immediate ceasefire and the full cessation of hostilities along the Cambodia–Thailand border.
Cambodia has reaffirmed its strong expectation that this third special GBC meeting will result in a practical, verifiable, and implementable ceasefire, enable the safe and voluntary return of affected civilians to their homes, and reinforce the commitment of both sides to peaceful dispute resolution through existing bilateral and regional mechanisms.
The developments of the meeting are being closely monitored by regional and international stakeholders as a critical step toward restoring peace, security, and stability along the shared border.
