Kuala Lumpur, 26 October 2025 – A historic milestone for peace and regional stability was achieved today in Kuala Lumpur as Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and H.E. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, officially signed the Kuala Lumpur Joint Declaration between the two nations.

The ceremony took place under the gracious invitation of H.E. Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia and Chair of ASEAN 2025, and was notably witnessed by H.E. Donald J. Trump, President of the United States of America.

This momentous event marks a turning point in Cambodia–Thailand relations, reaffirming the shared belief that lasting peace is possible when nations pursue dialogue with courage and wisdom.

On behalf of the Cambodian people, Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed his deepest gratitude to President Trump for his decisive leadership and unwavering commitment to supporting lasting peace between the two neighboring countries. The Prime Minister also extended sincere appreciation to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for his unfaltering support and facilitation throughout the peace process, as well as to ASEAN colleagues, China, and other partners who have supported the ceasefire from its inception.

Cambodia reaffirmed its strong commitment to the full implementation of the Joint Declaration and to continued cooperation with Thailand and all partners to ensure that this peace brings tangible benefits to both peoples. The Prime Minister further called for sustained international support to ensure the successful realization of the agreement.

Taking the opportunity, Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed strong hope for the prompt release of 18 Cambodian soldiers on humanitarian grounds, as stipulated in the Joint Declaration.

In a remarkable gesture reflecting Cambodia’s gratitude, Prime Minister Hun Manet announced the nomination of President Donald J. Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, recognizing his steadfast dedication and tireless efforts to promote peace—not only between Cambodia and Thailand, but also among nations worldwide.
