Cambodia and Thailand to Convene 2nd Special GBC Meeting in Kuala Lumpur on October 23, 2025
(Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia — 22 October 2025): Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, H.E. General Tea Seiha, announced on his official Facebook Page that the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Kingdom of Thailand will convene the 2nd Special General Border Committee (GBC) Meeting on 23 October 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
H.E. Gen. Tea Seiha expressed Cambodia’s strong anticipation that the meeting will be conducted in a friendly and constructive atmosphere, guided by a spirit of mutual trust and good faith, while upholding the principles of previous agreements. Among the key agenda items is the removal of heavy and destructive weapons and equipment, which will be implemented under the observation and verification of the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT).
In addition to ceasefire-related matters, the discussions are also expected to address humanitarian demining operations and joint efforts to prevent and combat transnational crimes, including online scams. Cambodia hopes that these exchanges will lead to tangible progress and strengthened bilateral cooperation.
In this spirit, Cambodia firmly believes that the 2nd Special GBC Meeting will produce fruitful outcomes, contributing to the promotion of peace, cooperation, development, and the swift restoration of normalcy along the Cambodia–Thailand border.
