PHNOM PENH, March 26, 2026 — Cambodia and China have reaffirmed their deep strategic partnership as the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation (MLC) marks a decade of transformative progress, positioning the framework as a cornerstone of regional stability, shared prosperity and sustainable development.

Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wenbin described the MLC as a “golden decade” of unity, mutual trust and practical cooperation among six countries — Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam — delivering tangible benefits to millions of people across the region.

Over the past ten years, the MLC has driven major advancements in infrastructure connectivity, cross-border economic integration, water resource management, agriculture and poverty reduction, reinforcing Cambodia’s role as an active and strategic partner in regional development.

The cooperation framework, built on strong institutional foundations since its launch in 2015–2016, has ensured that high-level commitments are translated into real, measurable outcomes — supporting economic growth and improving livelihoods throughout the Mekong subregion.

Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn praised the MLC as a vital platform that strengthens regional solidarity and delivers concrete development results, highlighting Cambodia’s proactive engagement in advancing peace and cooperation.

Analysts say Cambodia has emerged as a key beneficiary and contributor within the MLC framework, leveraging strategic partnerships to boost investment, enhance connectivity and accelerate national development.

The anniversary comes as Cambodia continues to position itself at the heart of regional cooperation, working closely with China and Mekong partners to build a future defined by stability, resilience and shared prosperity.
