Phnom Penh, October 7, 2025: Shortly after the post on official Facebook page of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, posted a message revealing that some Thai nationals had used his portrait as a shooting target in exchange for a prize on the afternoon of Tuesday, 7 October 2025, the Royal Government Spokesperson Unit issued a strong statement condemning such behavior as immoral, degrading, and devoid of human dignity, declaring it completely unacceptable.

The statement emphasized that Asian peoples—especially Thais and Cambodians—traditionally hold deep respect for their monarchs and national leaders. For this reason, Cambodia’s top leaders—Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate, and Samdech Moha Bovorteipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister—have consistently urged Cambodian citizens not to misuse the portraits of the Thai King or Thai leaders in any inappropriate way, and to refrain from any discrimination or hostility toward Thai nationals living and working in Cambodia.

The Spokesperson further expressed deep regret that such immoral acts were committed openly and without any measures taken to prevent or address them, saying:

However, it was observed that in Thailand, the immoral and insulted acts towards Cambodian leaders have been carrying out openly without any measures taken to curb such behaviour.

In conclusion, the statement stressed that although Cambodia is a small country with limited population and weak economy, but its leadership remains unwaveringly committed to the principle of loving-peace, peaceful resolution of conflicts, and aspiring for borders of peace, friendship, cooperation, and development, and never consider the neighboring countries or any other country as enemies.
