Cambodia Defence Minister Visits Troops at Thai Border
BANTEAY MEANCHEY/BATTAMBANG, April 4, 2026 — Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Tea Seiha visited frontline troops stationed along the Cambodia–Thailand border on Saturday, offering support and New Year greetings as forces continue to safeguard territorial integrity.
During the visit, Tea Seiha met soldiers deployed in Military Region 5, covering areas in Banteay Meanchey and Battambang provinces, where units are tasked with protecting the country’s borders.
The minister praised the troops for their service and commitment, describing their mission as vital to defending Cambodia’s sovereignty and maintaining stability along the frontier.
The visit comes ahead of the upcoming Khmer New Year, one of the country’s most important national holidays, and follows recent tensions reported along parts of the Cambodia–Thailand border.
Tea Seiha also extended well wishes to military commanders, officers and soldiers across the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, expressing hope for continued success in their duties and for peace and prosperity.
Cambodia has maintained that its forces remain committed to discipline and restraint while ensuring the protection of national territory amid ongoing border sensitivities.
