PHNOM PENH, Feb 6, 2026 — Cambodia said on Thursday that Charlie Tiu Hay Ang, also known as Atong Ang and wanted by authorities in the Philippines, is not in Cambodia, rejecting recent media reports suggesting he may be hiding in the country.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said an official check with the General Department of Immigration found no record of Ang entering or exiting Cambodia through any border checkpoint.

The clarification was issued to counter reports claiming that a team of Philippine police officers had been dispatched to Cambodia to search for Ang, who faces a series of alleged criminal cases in the Philippines.

“Based on official immigration records, there is no evidence that the individual is present in Cambodia,” the ministry said, adding that the reports were inaccurate.

Cambodian authorities did not provide further details, but reiterated their commitment to cooperation with foreign law-enforcement agencies through established legal channels.
