PHNOM PENH, March 9, 2026 — Cambodia has sufficient electricity supply to meet domestic demand and faces no immediate risk of power shortages, Energy Minister Keo Rottanak said on Sunday, urging the public not to worry about the country’s power capacity.

Speaking to reporters, the minister said there are no indications that Cambodia will experience a shortage of electricity, even as the number of electric vehicles continues to rise.

“Cambodia has enough electricity for consumption. Please do not panic,” Keo Rottanak said.

The reassurance comes amid growing public discussion about energy demand as the country sees increasing adoption of electric cars and motorcycles.

Cambodia has been expanding its energy generation capacity in recent years, including investments in renewable energy projects such as solar power, to ensure stable electricity supply for households and businesses.
