Cambodia Highlights Francophone Unity at UN
NEW YORK, March 19, 2026 — Cambodia’s mission to the United Nations, in partnership with the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF), marked the International Day of La Francophonie and UN French Language Day on Thursday, highlighting cooperation, cultural diversity and shared ties among French-speaking nations.
Speaking at the event, Cambodia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Chhea Keo, reaffirmed the country’s commitment to strengthening the Francophone community, emphasizing solidarity, dialogue and enduring friendship among member states.
He said Cambodia is fully prepared to host the 20th Francophonie Summit in Phnom Penh on November 15–16, 2026, pledging a warm welcome to participants from across the Francophone world.
The summit, he added, will serve as a platform to deepen cooperation, promote peace and support sustainable development through collective action among member countries.
The celebration at the United Nations brought together diplomats and representatives from Francophone nations, underscoring the continued relevance of the French language as a bridge for international cooperation.
