BANTEAY MEANCHEY, March 4, 2026 — Cambodia’s defence ministry on Wednesday brought foreign military attachés from 12 countries to inspect a site near the Cambodian-Thai border where Phnom Penh says Thai forces installed barbed wire and shipping containers following recent tensions.

The visit, coordinated by Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defence, took place in Prey Chan village in O’ Chrov district, Banteay Meanchey province, and aimed to show foreign military representatives the location of an alleged attack and assess conditions along the border.

Officials said the inspection also focused on reviewing the implementation of the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand, which took effect on Dec. 27, 2025.

According to the defence ministry, Cambodian authorities remain fully committed to respecting and implementing agreements reached between the two countries, including the joint statement of the 3rd Special Meeting of the Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) and the October 2025 peace declaration.

Phnom Penh said the agreements are intended to restore normal conditions, stability and long-term security along the border.

The ministry said the visit was organized to inform the public and the international community about developments on the ground amid ongoing efforts to maintain peace following the ceasefire.
