PHNOM PENH, Feb 7, 2026 — Cambodia and Laos have pledged not to allow any hostile forces to use the territory of one country to undermine the security, stability or sovereignty of the other, Cambodia’s foreign ministry said on Saturday.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said leaders of the two neighbours made the commitment amid rapidly evolving and increasingly complex regional and global developments.

The two sides stressed the importance of further strengthening their traditional friendship and close ties, reaffirming a shared commitment to good neighbourliness, solidarity and long-standing brotherly relations aimed at common prosperity.

Cambodia and Laos also praised ongoing cooperation in maintaining border security and combating transnational crime, agreeing to deepen coordination to ensure their shared border remains peaceful and stable.

Both governments agreed to strengthen ties between their armed forces through increased exchanges and cooperation, including within the Cambodia–Laos–Vietnam trilateral security framework, to address current and emerging challenges.

The leaders welcomed progress in border demarcation, noting that 86% of the Cambodia–Laos boundary has been completed, and agreed to jointly resolve the remaining 14% to transform border areas into zones of peace, friendship, cooperation and development for the benefit of both peoples.
