Cambodia Pledges Peaceful Settlement of Border Disputes Under International Law
PHNOM PENH, March 11, 2026 — Cambodia remains firmly committed to resolving border disputes through peaceful means and international law while promoting good-neighborly relations, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn said, according to a statement released on Tuesday.
Speaking at the closing session of the annual conference of Cambodia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, held from March 5–6, Prak Sokhonn emphasized the importance of strengthening a proactive foreign policy and strategic communication to safeguard Cambodia’s core national interests.
Those interests include maintaining neutrality, independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, while promoting peace, national unity and socio-economic development, the statement said.
Regarding relations with neighboring countries, Prak Sokhonn reaffirmed Cambodia’s strong commitment to resolving border disputes peacefully, in line with international law and existing bilateral agreements.
He said Cambodia also aims to enhance mutual trust, good-neighborly relations and win-win cooperation with neighboring states.
The foreign minister highlighted Cambodia’s evolving role as a constructive and law-abiding actor on the international stage, noting that the country currently maintains diplomatic relations with 175 countries and operates 46 diplomatic missions worldwide.
Cambodia remains firmly committed to multilateralism and to supporting a rules-based international order, while continuing to expand diplomatic engagement globally, he added.
