Cambodia’s MOD Rejects Thailand’s False Allegations on Use of Foreign Mercenaries
Phnom Penh, 11 December 2025 — The Kingdom of Cambodia has firmly dismissed as baseless and deliberately misleading recent claims published by the Thai Tribune and the social media page “Army Military Force,” which accused Cambodia of deploying foreign mercenaries to operate suicide drones along the Cambodian–Thai border.
In a strong statement, the Ministry of National Defence underscored that the allegations are entirely fabricated, malicious in intent, and aimed at tarnishing Cambodia’s reputation amid ongoing Thai military escalation. Cambodia stressed that it has never engaged foreign fighters and that such false assertions serve only to distract from Thailand’s own continuous violations of international law.
The Ministry condemned Thailand’s persistent disinformation campaign, noting that these irresponsible accusations are being used to justify the Thai army’s intensifying use of heavy and increasingly brutal weaponry against Cambodian territory and civilian areas.
Cambodia called on Thailand to immediately halt all intentional spread of misinformation and to cease attempts to manipulate public perception in order to conceal its unlawful and aggressive actions along the border. The Kingdom reaffirmed its commitment to truth, transparency, and the principles of international law, urging Thailand to act responsibly and constructively to prevent further escalation.
