Phnom Penh, 9 January 2026 — The Ministry of Interior of the Kingdom of Cambodia today released a preliminary assessment from Preah Vihear Province, reporting extensive damage to civilian property as a result of aggressive acts by the Thai side.

According to the initial findings, 302 civilian houses were damaged. Of these, 123 houses were severely damaged, 96 sustained moderate damage, and 83 incurred minor damage. The Ministry underscored that the affected properties are civilian in nature, raising serious humanitarian concerns and underscoring the impact of the incidents on local communities.

The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to peace, stability, and the protection of civilians, while calling for full respect for international law, humanitarian principles, and existing ceasefire commitments, and for the avoidance of actions that further harm civilian populations and property.
