Phnom Penh, 8 January 2026 — Cambodia’s Senior Minister H.E. Dr. Ly Thuch stated that China’s assistance to Cambodia’s mine action sector is not merely operational support, but a lifesaving instrument that protects communities, restores hope, and transforms lives.

Speaking at a handover ceremony at the Cambodian Mine Action Authority, co-chaired with H.E. Wang Wenbin, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Cambodia, Senior Minister Ly Thuch highlighted China’s provision of metal detectors, essential equipment, and vehicles to support humanitarian demining operations nationwide.

On behalf of Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, he expressed deep appreciation for China’s sustained support—including equipment, funding, technical expertise, capacity building, risk education, and victim assistance—which has safeguarded countless lives and enabled communities to rebuild with dignity.

He also underscored China’s constructive role in facilitating the ceasefire and promoting lasting peace between Cambodia and Thailand, including recent humanitarian assistance valued at RMB 20 million for civilians displaced by the conflict, and reaffirmed the importance of Lancang–Mekong Cooperation in advancing shared regional security and humanitarian outcomes.
