PREAH VIHEAR, March 5, 2026 — Cambodia’s defence ministry escorted foreign military attachés from 12 countries on Thursday to inspect unexploded ordnance near the Preah Vihear temple complex, following clashes along the Cambodian–Thai border in 2025.

The visit, coordinated by Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defence, included a briefing by the Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) on munitions discovered in the area after fighting last year.

Officials said a total of 1,223 pieces of unexploded ordnance and munitions were found in the Preah Vihear temple complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which Cambodian authorities say were used during the attacks.

The delegation was also briefed on the implementation of the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand, which took effect on Dec. 27, 2025, following tensions along the border.

CMAC officials demonstrated the types of ordnance recovered and outlined ongoing clearance operations, which Cambodian authorities say are a priority to ensure the safety of civilians living near the border.

The inspection formed part of a series of visits organized by Cambodia to inform foreign military representatives and the international community about the situation along the border following the ceasefire.
