BANTEAY MEANCHEY, March 4, 2026 — Cambodia’s defence ministry on Wednesday escorted foreign military attachés from 12 countries to inspect a border area in Banteay Meanchey province that Cambodian officials say was heavily attacked during clashes with Thai forces in late 2025.

The delegation visited Boeung Trakuan Pass and an unexploded ordnance site in Thmar Puok district, where authorities said fighting in December damaged homes, civilian shops and public infrastructure.

According to the Ministry of National Defence, the visiting diplomats were also shown areas where barbed wire and shipping containers were installed by Thai military forces, as well as locations affected by the fighting.

The visit aimed to provide foreign military representatives with a direct view of conditions along the border and to review the implementation of the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand, which took effect on Dec. 27, 2025.

Cambodia’s defence ministry said the government remains firmly committed to fully implementing agreements reached between the two countries, including the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special Meeting of the Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) and the October 2025 peace declaration.

Officials said the agreements are intended to restore stability, normalcy and long-term security along the shared border.
