Pailin, 26 December 2025 — The Ministry of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia announced late Friday night a significant diplomatic development in ongoing Cambodia–Thailand border consultations, underscoring progress through established bilateral mechanisms.

According to a press release issued by H.E. Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence, the Co-Chairs of the Secretariat of the Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) reached consensus on the content of the draft Joint Statement for the 3rd Special Cambodia–Thailand GBC Meeting.

The agreement was concluded at 10:50 p.m. on 26 December 2025, following deliberations led by Major General Nhem Boraden, Chief of the Cambodian GBC Secretariat, and General Nuttapong Praokaew, Chief of the Thai GBC Secretariat. The meeting was conducted with the participation of observers from the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) representing both Cambodia and Thailand, reinforcing transparency and regional engagement.

The Ministry emphasized that the Secretariat-level meeting was convened specifically as a preparatory mechanism ahead of the 3rd Special Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee Meeting, scheduled to take place on 27 December 2025.

This development signals a continued commitment by Cambodia to pursue dialogue through institutional and diplomatic channels, in line with bilateral agreements and ASEAN-supported frameworks, aimed at addressing border-related issues peacefully and responsibly.
