PHNOM PENH, 17 January 2026 — Cambodia and the United Kingdom have agreed to strengthen cooperation to combat cybercrime, following talks between Cambodian officials and the British ambassador, authorities said on Wednesday.

Senior Minister Chhay Sinarith said Cambodia had recently dismantled key cyber-scam hubs, underscoring the government’s determination to eliminate online fraud and prosecute those responsible.

He stressed that cyber fraud was a transnational threat, requiring closer collaboration with foreign law enforcement agencies.

British Ambassador Dominic Williams praised the crackdowns as “tangible evidence” of Cambodia’s commitment, adding that the United Kingdom was ready to deepen cooperation.

Both sides agreed on a roadmap focused on information sharing and capacity building.
