PHNOM PENH, Feb 7, 2026 — Hun Manet and Pham Minh Chinh on Friday pledged to boost bilateral trade to $20 billion, as the two neighbours moved to deepen cooperation across economic, security and infrastructure sectors.

The commitment was made during talks at the Vimean 7 Makara in Phnom Penh, where Hun Manet received Pham Minh Chinh, who is leading a Vietnamese delegation to Cambodia for a high-level meeting involving leaders of the ruling parties of Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos from Feb. 6–7.

Both prime ministers praised the strength of bilateral ties and cooperation at all levels, reaffirming their shared vision of “good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and long-term stability.

They agreed to further expand collaboration in key areas including diplomacy, trade and investment, defence and security, energy, education and training, tourism, culture and transport connectivity.

Infrastructure links featured prominently in the discussions, with both sides highlighting plans to advance expressway projects connecting Phnom Penh–Bavet and Ho Chi Minh City–Moc Bai, aimed at facilitating cross-border trade and movement.

Hun Manet and Pham Minh Chinh also underscored the importance of closer cooperation among border provinces to combat transnational crime, human trafficking and online scams, pledging to work toward transforming shared border areas into zones of peace, friendship, cooperation and development.
