Battambang, September 26, 2025 – The 5th Military Region of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces has issued a strong clarification rejecting recent accusations regarding the demolition of a house at O’Phlok Domrei, which was wrongly claimed to be an act of ceding Cambodian territory to Thailand.

In its statement, the 5th Military Region affirmed that such allegations are entirely false, baseless, and a misrepresentation of the contents of Letter No. 002/2025 dated September 22, 2025. It emphasized that the responsibility for demarcating borders and placing boundary markers rests solely with the Joint Boundary Commission (JBC) between Cambodia and Thailand. This mandate, it noted, was also reaffirmed during the 1st Special Meeting of the General Border Committee (GBC) held on September 10, 2025.

The clarification further underlined that both Cambodia and Thailand possess clear legal frameworks, institutional mechanisms, and technical procedures for resolving border issues, based on the 1:200,000 scale map under the 1904 Convention and 1907 Treaty, as well as 74 mutually agreed boundary markers. These foundations were reaffirmed in the 2000 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU 2000), which remains a recognized legal instrument between the two countries.

Reiterating its stance, the 5th Military Region declared its unwavering commitment to defend Cambodia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity without compromise, while continuing to support peaceful and lawful solutions to border issues in accordance with international law.
