Cambodian PM Hun Manet, U.S. President Donald J. Trump Hold Call on Border Developments, Reaffirm Commitment to Lasting Peace
Phnom Penh, 15 November 2025 — Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet held a telephone discussion late on 14 November 2025 with President Donald J. Trump of the United States to review the latest developments along the Cambodia–Thailand border and to advance ongoing efforts to uphold the peace agreement between the two countries.
During the call, Prime Minister Hun Manet conveyed, on behalf of the Cambodian people, his sincere appreciation to President Trump for the United States’ constructive role in facilitating the ceasefire and contributing to the successful conclusion of the Kuala Lumpur Joint Declaration, which outlines a framework for lasting peace between Cambodia and Thailand.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed Cambodia’s unwavering commitment to honoring the spirit and principles of the Kuala Lumpur Joint Declaration, expressing hope that both nations will continue to engage through established mechanisms and agreed-upon bilateral processes.
President Trump underscored his firm position in support of long-term peace between Cambodia and Thailand. He assured that the United States will continue to closely monitor the situation to help ensure that no further armed clashes occur along the border.
Prime Minister Hun Manet reiterated that Cambodia remains steadfast in resolving all border issues through peaceful means, fully respecting the mechanisms and principles already agreed upon, with the goal of achieving a durable and mutually beneficial settlement and strengthening peace between the two neighbouring nations.
