China Commits to Promoting Ceasefire and Peace Talks Between Cambodia and Thailand

Beijing, 15 December 2025 — China has announced its firm commitment to actively encourage an immediate ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand and to support both parties in returning to the negotiating table in pursuit of a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict.

Speaking on Monday, 15 December 2025, Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Mr. Guo Jiakun stated that China hopes Cambodia and Thailand will exercise the utmost restraint and take all necessary measures to halt hostilities and de-escalate tensions as swiftly as possible.

Mr. Guo further emphasized that China will continue to act in accordance with the willingness of both sides, making every effort to promote peace talks and to play a constructive and responsible role, in its own manner, in facilitating a ceasefire and the restoration of peace between the two countries.

China’s statement underscores Beijing’s support for dialogue, restraint, and diplomatic engagement as the only viable path toward lasting peace and stability in the region.
