PHNOM PENH, March 16, 2026 — Denmark has expressed support for Cambodia’s stance on resolving its border dispute with Thailand through peaceful dialogue and adherence to a ceasefire agreement, officials said.

Danish Ambassador to Cambodia Danny Annan conveyed the message during a courtesy meeting with Cambodia’s acting head of state Hun Sen on Monday, according to the Senate’s spokesperson.

The envoy said Denmark welcomed Cambodia’s commitment to respect the ceasefire reached on Dec. 27, 2025, and its policy of seeking a peaceful resolution to border tensions with Thailand.

Hun Sen reiterated that Cambodia remains firmly committed to upholding the ceasefire and resolving the dispute through peaceful means, the spokesperson said.

The meeting also touched on bilateral relations between Cambodia and Denmark, with Hun Sen expressing hope that ties would continue to expand during the ambassador’s tenure.

He noted that relations between the two countries have been positive and said Cambodia looks forward to celebrating the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2027, with potential commemorative activities planned.

Ambassador Annan said he would work to further strengthen ties between the two countries, particularly in economic cooperation, trade and investment, alongside existing diplomatic engagement.

Hun Sen welcomed the initiative, saying there remains significant untapped potential in economic and commercial cooperation between Cambodia and Denmark.

The two sides also exchanged views on recent international developments, according to the statement.
