Paris, 14 December 2025 — The French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs on 14 December 2025 issued an official statement expressing grave concern over the escalating confrontations between the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Kingdom of Thailand.

France strongly urged both parties to immediately cease hostilities and to return to dialogue, in accordance with the provisions of the Kuala Lumpur Peace Declaration, with the aim of achieving a peaceful resolution to the dispute.

In its statement, published on the official website of the French Embassy in Cambodia on the evening of 14 December, France emphasized:

“France expresses deep concern over the escalation of tensions between Thailand and Cambodia. France highly values the efforts of Malaysia, in its capacity as ASEAN Chair, to promote the continuation of peaceful dialogue between the two countries. France supports the call by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for an immediate ceasefire and urges both parties to halt the fighting without delay and return to dialogue, in line with the provisions of the Kuala Lumpur Peace Declaration, in order to move toward a peaceful resolution of the dispute between the two nations.”

France’s statement underscores growing international concern and reinforces calls for restraint, de-escalation, and strict adherence to diplomatic mechanisms to prevent further deterioration of the situation and to safeguard regional peace and stability.
