France Welcomes Entry into Force of Cambodia–Thailand Ceasefire, Urges Consolidation of Peace

Paris, 28 December 2025 — The French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs has welcomed the entry into force of the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand on Saturday, 27 December, following the meeting of the General Border Committee, describing it as a significant step reflecting the resumption of dialogue between the military authorities of both countries.

France stressed that, from this point forward, peace must be consolidated. It called on both parties to take all necessary measures without delay to ensure the protection of civilians, facilitate the safe return of displaced populations to their homes, and pursue a peaceful resolution of the dispute, in full respect of international law.

Recalling assurances given by the French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs to his Cambodian and Thai counterparts during discussions held on 23 December, France reaffirmed that it stands alongside both countries and the ASEAN Chair, ready to provide continued support and facilitation in efforts aimed at sustaining peace and stability.
