PHNOM PENH, March 3, 2026 — The Secretary-General of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), Louise Mushikiwabo, pledged full support to ensure the success of the 20th Francophonie Summit, which Cambodia will host in 2026, during talks with Prime Minister Hun Manet on Monday.

Mushikiwabo met Hun Manet at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh to review progress in preparations for the summit. She praised Cambodia’s readiness and reaffirmed the OIF’s commitment to working closely with Cambodian authorities to guarantee the event proceeds smoothly and successfully.

The summit, which brings together leaders from French-speaking countries and partner states, is expected to underscore solidarity and cooperation within the Francophone community.

Hun Manet welcomed the continued backing of the OIF and said Cambodia was honored to host the high-level gathering. He noted that logistical, security and organizational preparations were underway to ensure a seamless event.

Cambodia also plans to organize three major side events alongside the summit: a Francophonie Business Forum, the Francophonie Village exhibition and the Franco-Tech technology expo.

The 20th Francophonie Summit is seen as a significant diplomatic milestone for Cambodia, highlighting its growing engagement within the global Francophone community.
