PHNOM PENH, April 1, 2026 — Germany, in partnership with the European Union and development partners, is stepping up support for Cambodia’s agribusiness sector, aiming to help local producers shift from raw exports to higher-value products for international markets.

Under the initiative, a €2 million national agricultural laboratory will be established to help Cambodian producers meet international quality and safety standards, according to a joint announcement by Team Europe.

The program will also provide direct support to 29 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), enabling them to expand into new export markets and strengthen competitiveness.

In addition, new partnerships are being developed with German companies through the “Responsible Sourcing Hub Cambodia,” designed to connect Cambodian producers with European buyers and promote sustainable supply chains.

Officials said the efforts will focus on key agricultural products such as cashew, pepper and mango, with the goal of improving product quality, reducing post-harvest losses and increasing value-added production.

The initiative is expected to boost Cambodia’s integration into global markets while supporting job creation and rural economic development.

Analysts say the move reflects growing international confidence in Cambodia’s agricultural potential and aligns with broader efforts to modernize the sector and enhance export capacity.
