Germany Welcomes Cambodia–Thailand Ceasefire, Urges Strict Adherence and Continued Dialogue
Berlin, 27 December 2025 — Germany has welcomed the ceasefire agreement between the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Kingdom of Thailand, describing it as a sign of hope following weeks of violence and a critical step toward restoring security and stability, particularly for internally displaced persons affected by the conflict.
In a statement published on Saturday by Dr. Johann Wadephul, Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of Germany, Berlin underscored the importance of full and consistent implementation of the ceasefire by both parties, noting that sustained compliance is essential to prevent a relapse into hostilities.

Germany expressed special appreciation for the role played by the ASEAN Presidency and the ASEAN Observer Team, emphasizing that their continued engagement remains crucial to preventing a resurgence of violence and ensuring the effective monitoring of the ceasefire.
The German Foreign Minister further stressed that while the ceasefire represents an important breakthrough, it must be viewed as only the first step toward a comprehensive and lasting peace. He called on both Cambodia and Thailand to maintain dialogue and pursue political solutions in order to address underlying issues and secure long-term regional stability.
