(Phnom Penh, November 8, 2025) — His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, has graciously granted two royal residences to the Royal Government of Cambodia for conversion into national museums and to be preserved as national heritage properties. This royal decision was conveyed through a Royal Message issued from the Royal Palace on November 8, 2025.

In response, the Royal Government of Cambodia, represented by Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and President of the Senate Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, expressed their deep gratitude to His Majesty the King for His noble generosity and reaffirmed their commitment to preserve and maintain the two royal residences with utmost care, ensuring that they are safeguarded as enduring national heritage landmarks.

In the Royal Message bearing His Majesty’s royal signature, it was stated that the two residences—the Southern Royal Residence (ព្រះរាជដំណាក់ទក្សិណ) and the Northern Royal Residence (ព្រះរាជដំណាក់ព្កុល)—are located in Village 3, Chatomuk Quarter, Daun Penh District, Phnom Penh Capital.

Furthermore, His Majesty granted the Royal Government full authorization to renovate, restore, and manage the Southern Royal Residence, which covers approximately 300 square meters, for its transformation into a National Museum and its preservation as a national heritage property. Notably, this residence is the birthplace of His Late Majesty King Father Norodom Sihanouk, a site of profound historical and cultural significance.

In this regard, His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni has, with deep filial devotion, instructed that the Southern Royal Residence be preserved as a memorial heritage site honoring His revered father, the Late King Father Norodom Sihanouk.

As for the Northern Royal Residence, which occupies an area of more than 3,500 square meters, His Majesty has decreed that it shall also be transformed into a museum and, in the future, will serve as a memorial heritage site dedicated to His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni himself. This royal instruction was likewise affirmed in the Royal Message signed on November 8, 2025.

Meanwhile, the Royal Government of Cambodia, through Prime Minister Hun Manet and Senate President Hun Sen, who also serves as Chairman of the Supreme Council of the King, issued a joint statement expressing profound gratitude to His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni for entrusting the two royal residences to be placed under the stewardship of the government. The statement further reaffirmed the Royal Government’s commitment to carefully renovate and restore both residences into national museums and heritage monuments for the benefit of present and future generations.

It should be recalled that His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni has consistently demonstrated His profound devotion to the nation and people by graciously granting royal properties to the Royal Government and by generously donating and dedicating His personal resources for the welfare of the Cambodian people—an enduring reflection of His benevolence, humility, and patriotic spirit.

This was according to the joint statement released by Samdech Techo Hun Sen and Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet.
