PHNOM PENH, Feb 6, 2026 — Hun Manet on Friday chaired a trilateral prime ministers’ meeting with Vietnam and Laos, underscoring the importance of closer cooperation to promote development and preserve peace and stability in the region.

The meeting, held at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh, was attended by Pham Minh Chinh and Sonexay Siphandone, on the sidelines of high-level party leadership meetings involving Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos from Feb. 6–7.

Hun Manet praised the progress in trilateral engagement and economic cooperation, noting steady growth in trade ties among the three countries. He proposed further initiatives to expand commerce, including targets to raise Cambodia–Laos trade to $700 million by 2030 and Cambodia–Vietnam trade to $20 billion in the coming years$20 billion in the coming years.

The three leaders stressed that strong relations and cooperation among Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos are essential for sustainable development as well as for maintaining regional peace and stability. They agreed to deepen coordination in political and diplomatic affairs, enhance information-sharing through foreign policy mechanisms, and strengthen mutual support in regional and international forums.

Discussions also focused on defence and security cooperation, with the leaders pledging to jointly counter transnational crime, online scams and other non-traditional security threats.

The meeting further reaffirmed commitments to improve connectivity across the three countries, including physical infrastructure, transport, electricity and energy networks, education and training. The leaders said these efforts would support economic growth and promote tourism under the “Three Countries, One Destination” initiative.
