Hun Manet rejects ceasefire-for-land claims
PREAH VIHEAR, Jan. 31, 2026 — Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said on Saturday that Cambodia would continue to assert its territorial integrity and would not relinquish any sovereign claims in exchange for a ceasefire.
Speaking to displaced civilians at a shelter at Wat Bak Kam in Preah Vihear province, Hun Manet said Cambodia had never agreed to halt hostilities in return for territorial concessions and would not cede land under any circumstances.
“Our claim to territorial integrity continues. We have not abandoned our right to assert our sovereignty anywhere,” Hun Manet said. “There has been no ceasefire agreement in exchange for land, no land swaps, no territorial concessions.”
He said all border management, surveying and dispute resolution efforts would continue to be conducted in accordance with international law.
Hun Manet’s remarks come amid ongoing diplomatic and technical efforts to address border issues, as Cambodia reiterates its commitment to peaceful resolution while firmly safeguarding sovereignty.
