Lao Speaker Praises Longstanding Cambodia Friendship
VIENTIANE, 1 July 2026 — The president of Laos’ National Assembly has sent a congratulatory message to Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen to mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two neighbouring countries, reaffirming their longstanding friendship and commitment to closer cooperation.
In his message, National Assembly President Xaysomphone Phomvihane extended warm congratulations on the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Laos and Cambodia, established on June 15, 1956. He also conveyed his best wishes to Hun Sen and members of Cambodia’s legislature on behalf of the Lao National Assembly and the Lao people.
Xaysomphone said the traditional friendship between Laos and Cambodia had been continuously strengthened over the past seven decades, delivering tangible benefits to the people of both countries.
He reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with Hun Sen to further enhance the longstanding friendship, comprehensive strategic partnership and long-term cooperation between the two nations for their mutual benefit.
The Lao parliamentary leader also expressed hope that relations between the two countries, as well as cooperation between their legislative bodies, would continue to deepen and achieve even greater results in the years ahead.
